Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Will the use of XLP Fuel Additives void the manufacturer warranty on my vehicle? No. With normal use (as directed), all manufacturer warranties will remain valid. For more information, please read more about the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.

Do I have to use XLP fuel performance boosters in every tank of fuel?
XLP fuel performance boosters are formulated for consistent use with every tank. XLP is not a surge additive product. For the best results consistent and continual use is necessary.

Warranty Questions

Can the manufacturer provide a letter stating that its products will not void any engine warranty?

The XLP products have been through harms testing and will not cause any harm that should void the engine manufacturers warranty when used as recommended. Unfortunately, there are a few engine manufacturers that try to void their warranty by including statements about the use of performance enhancing additives voiding their warranty. The Sherman Anti-Trust Act prohibits engine manufacturers from denying use of additives unless they have proven the additive in question can damage their engines, but that hasn't stopped them from putting the anti performance additive language in their warranties.

More recently, some engine manufacturers have shifted their position to it being the additive manufacturers responsibility to prove no harm.

Additionally, the XLP additives are registered with the EPA. Section 211(f) (1) (A) of the Act (42 U.S.C. 7545 (f) (1)) prohibits fuel or fuel additive manufacturers from first introducing into commerce, or increasing the concentration in use of, any fuel or fuel additive for general use in light-duty motor vehicles which is not substantially similar to that utilized in the certification of motor vehicles or engines under section 206 of the Clean Air Act. These additives are “substantially similar”, else the manufacturer would have had to apply for a waiver in order to register these additive blends. The manufacturer has applied for no waivers with respect to the XLP gasoline or diesel additives.

XLP Gas Fuel Additive

What kind of fuel mileage increase can I expect to see using XLP?
Fuel mileage increases are dependent of many factors. Three of the biggest factors are the age and type of auto driven, where it is driven, and who is driving. You can expect to see increases ranging from 3% to more than 14% depending on the conditions fore mentioned. The miles driven per tank is the easiest way to realize you gain and savings. (Results will vary by individual customer use)

Do I use XLP once every 3,000 to 5,000 miles like most other fuel system cleaners?
XLP is not a shock treatment product. XLP is formulated for consistent use in every tank to achieve the best results.

How does XLP gas additive work?
XLP gas additive contains two main components that work in unison to achieve better efficiency. The high concentrate detergent component works on cleaning the injectors and intake valves to get the most efficient combustion. The friction reducer component coats the inside cylinder walls of the motor creating the most free movement of the internal parts.

How much fuel does one 15oz bottle of XLP gas additive treat?
One 15oz bottle can treat up to 150 gallons of gasoline at the standard treat rate. (Standard treat rate is 1oz per 10 gallons of gas)
Note: For first time use, add 3oz per 10 gallons of gas, thereafter use the standard treat rate.

XLP Diesel Fuel Additive

How many gallons of diesel fuel will one gallon of XLP diesel treat?
One gallon of XLP diesel additive will treat 600 gallons of diesel fuel. The 1:600 treat rate is significantly higher than most all other diesel treatment packages. Our tests show that in order to get the results wanted there needs to be a more concentrated presence of detergency and lubrication in the fuel.

At what temperature can XLP diesel additive protect against for winter operations?
XLP diesel additive contains cold flow improvers that can reduce the cold filter plug point (CFPP) by as much as 32° F.
Ex: If we have an untreated #2 diesel fuel with a 5° CFPP and treat it with XLP diesel, the best results would protect against fuel temperatures at -27° F. (Results will vary due to the base fuel quality and characteristics)

Is it possible to over treat diesel fuel?
Yes, it is possible and does happen more often than you think. XLP is formulated for a 1:600 treat rate year round. If you were to subscribe to the more is better mentality, you would simple be using more XLP than needed to get the same results.

The other and more common issue with over treatment is related to cold flow improvers and winter operability. If you were to apply an anti-gel to diesel fuel, you need to realize it can only be treated to a certain temperature until it has an inverse effect. This means that if we treat a fuel to -25 degrees and then add another dose of the same treatment, the likelihood of increasing the CFPP to a higher temperature would be great. (Please refer to our “Technical Info” section for an example of this)

How does the XLP lubricity improver help my motor?
Due to the lack of lubrication in diesel fuel (desulfurization), deposits and buildup on the internal parts have become a serious problem for the longevity of the fueling systems. By adding lubricity back to the fuel we coat the internal parts, protecting them against the formation of deposits and aiding in corrosion protection from water contamination.

What kind of efficiency gains can I expect see?
Restoring the lost efficiency depends on varying factors. Some example of these factors are; how has the equipment been maintained before treating with XLP; who is operating the equipment; and the conditions the equipment is being operated in.

Surprisingly it does not take long for a brand new diesel motor to lose efficiency or power due to fuel quality. XLP diesel additive will keep brand new equipment from losing those efficiencies and power robbing deposits. Older equipment often has a more dramatic efficiency gain due to long-term buildup and layers of deposits that are removed with XLP diesel additive. (Results will vary by user and the consistency of use of XLP diesel additive) Please refer to our “Case Study” section for examples.

Does XLP prevent bacteria from growing in my fuel tank?
XLP diesel additive contains a water demulsifying (separating) component that helps water settle to the bottom of the tank. If water is not present, bacteria cannot grow. If bacteria are present before XLP treatment, XLP will not kill and remove the bacteria that have grown.
